Mother Ezzat, a 99‑year‑old woman and the mother of Mohammad‑Reza Abayi, a martyr of the Iran–Iraq War, was tragically killed in the recent aerial bombardment in western Tehran.
She had spent many years waiting for her son, who was declared missing in action after being martyred at the age of 18 during Operation Kheibar in defense of the country. After many years, the remains of her son were finally returned to her embrace.
