Three wealthy Florida brothers and luxury real estate agents—Tal, Alon, and Oren Alexander—are facing trial in Manhattan federal court on charges of rape, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. Prosecutors allege a years-long scheme targeting dozens of women, with the brothers potentially facing life imprisonment if convicted. The trial, delayed from its scheduled January 26 start due to a winter storm, is expected to last about a month.
The Charges and Potential Life Sentences
Tal Alexander (39) and his twin brothers Alon and Oren (38) face a broad array of sexual assault-related charges. According to the indictment, the victims were often women the brothers met in restaurants, nightclubs, or through dating apps. If convicted, all three defendants could face life in prison. Prosecutors stated that the brothers conspired with each other and others to deceive women and carry out sexual assaults against them.
Trial Details and Delay
The trial is being held in Manhattan federal court and is expected to last approximately one month. While proceedings were scheduled to begin on Monday, January 26, a winter storm and the closure of all New York-area courts delayed the start of the trial.
Locations of the Alleged Crimes
According to prosecutors, many of these encounters occurred in New York, where Tal and Oren Alexander were launching and developing a luxury real estate firm. Incidents have also been reported in affluent areas such as the Hamptons and Martha’s Vineyard. According to judicial authorities, some assaults also took place in South Florida, where the brothers’ family resides.
The “Luxury Lifestyle” Lure
As reported by Vanity Fair magazine last year, the three brothers allegedly lured victims by showcasing an ultra-luxurious lifestyle—including yachting, private jet travel, and connections to wealthy and influential people. The defendants have pleaded not guilty to all charges in an eight-count indictment filed in the Southern District of New York in December 2024. They had previously faced 11 charges. Alon and Oren Alexander also pleaded not guilty this month to a new charge of assaulting a woman on a cruise ship in January 2012.
Details of the Trafficking Scheme
According to the initial indictment, the defendants, along with other known and unknown individuals, operated a long-term sex trafficking network. Within this scheme, women were promised material benefits, including domestic and international travel to tourist destinations, stays at luxury hotels and resorts, and access to high-profile events and experiences.
Prosecutors say the defendants used deception, fraud, and coercion to force victims to travel or meet in private locations and then, using methods such as administering drugs and in some cases physical force, committed rape and sexual assault.
Victim Testimonies and Case Scale
The Alexander family is represented by the same New York law firm that previously defended Sean “Diddy” Combs in a sex trafficking and kidnapping case. The three brothers have been held in a New York City detention center for months.
Two girls who were under 18 at the time of the sexual abuse in 2009, along with at least six other victims named in the indictment, are expected to testify in court. Victims have been permitted to testify anonymously.
According to the Miami Herald, investigators have so far spoken with at least 60 women, and an additional 15 to 20 may appear during the trial.
Possible High-Profile Names Involved
Katherine Kallergis, a Florida-based reporter for the real estate publication The Real Deal, who first reported these allegations in June 2024, stated that the names of some influential figures in luxury real estate and investment may surface during this case.
She emphasized: “Oren and Tal Alexander were prominent real estate brokers, and because of that, this case has become a major, shocking story for the real estate industry.”
