On the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Israel’s genocide and systematic actions against Palestinian women over the past two years.
According to a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, over the past two years, Israel launched a genocide in the Gaza Strip, an action that ended with last month’s ceasefire. Additionally, during this period, Israel intensified its aggressions in the occupied West Bank. Tens of thousands of Palestinians were martyred in this genocide and aggression.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noting that the Israeli regime imposes “the most severe forms of discrimination and harassment” against Palestinian women, announced that this regime has committed systematic crimes against them. These crimes include genocide, extrajudicial executions, forced disappearances, arbitrary detentions—including administrative detention—torture and sexual violence, home demolitions, land confiscation, terrorist acts by settlers against them, and the imposition of starvation and intimidation.

The Palestinian Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip, providing statistics on female martyrs, announced that during the two years of devastating war, Israel martyred more than 12,500 women and over 20,000 children—figures that are part of the total 69,000 martyrs.
Official Palestinian institutions also reported that during this same period, 1,080 Palestinians were martyred as a result of the Israeli regime’s attacks in the West Bank. However, these institutions did not provide statistics on the number of women and children among these victims.
The Zionist regime began its war against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, with two primary objectives: eliminating the Hamas movement and securing the release of Zionist captives. However, it failed to achieve these goals and was forced to agree to a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
On Thursday, October 8, 2024, the Hamas movement officially announced in a statement that an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners had been reached.
The army of the Israeli regime also officially announced on Friday noon, October 9, 2024, the implementation of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. It stated that according to this agreement, Israeli forces would remain stationed in specified areas of the Gaza Strip, and movement from the south to the north of the Strip via Al-Rashid Street and Salah Al-Din Road would be permitted.
The Zionist regime has violated this ceasefire several times since its establishment, sparking protests and a wave of condemnation within Palestine, the Islamic world, and the international community.
