US‑Israeli Strikes Hit Tehran Women’s Empowerment Centers

by خانم هاشمی

In the wake of recent US_Israeli attacks on Tehran, three Kosar Women Empowerment Centers located in districts 4, 16, and 21 of the capital sustained significant damage. These centers, established to support female heads of households, underprivileged individuals, and women in vulnerable situations, were among the structures affected by the strikes.

Serious Damage to Kosar Centers in Tehran

According to a report by Jahan‑Banou News Agency, Maryam Ardabili, Head of the Women and Family Affairs Center of Tehran Municipality, confirmed that the building of Kosar District 4 — operating as a café‑bookhouse — suffered broken windows, roof collapse, and structural damage.

These centers had provided spaces for employment and income generation for women facing economic hardship. The attack is considered a major setback to ongoing social support efforts for vulnerable women in Tehran.

Ardabili stated that the Kosar Empowerment Center of District 16 — known as the “Kosar Cooking Center” — was completely destroyed during the assaults.

Damage Report from District 21

She further noted that the Kosar Empowerment Center in District 21 sustained serious damage amid strikes targeting Tehran‑Sar and Esteghlal Town on the previous day. Women working in this center had been producing threads, fabrics, and garments for years.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the attacks.

Municipality’s Commitment to Support and Reconstruction

Currently, 124 Kosar Empowerment Centers operate across Tehran’s 22 districts, assisting women with limited financial resources and female heads of households.
The Women and Family Affairs Department of Tehran Municipality announced it will actively engage in restoring damaged centers, rebuilding women’s infrastructure, and reinforcing long‑term livelihood and employment opportunities for affected women.
