by faeze mohammadi

During the international webinar titled “Muslim Woman,” which focused on the situation of women in global crises, an Iranian cultural activist emphasized the need for global solidarity to confront crimes against humanity.

According to the report, Mahieh Sallaq, a cultural activist from Golestan Province, criticized the performance of international institutions and described the silence toward the killing of women and children as a clear violation of human rights. She called for serious action from the international community.

Referring to the critical conditions in the region and the destructive impacts of wars, she stressed that the continuation of such situations poses a serious threat to global security and welfare. Sallaq also questioned the effectiveness of international laws, criticizing their misuse as tools to justify violent actions.

Introducing herself as a Muslim mother and a member of the healthcare system, she highlighted the importance of a humane and ethical perspective on global developments, stating: “Our religion is based on peace and kindness, and our duty is to preserve human life.”

She further pointed to attacks on healthcare centers and civilian infrastructure, describing them as inhumane actions that contradict the principles of civilization. She urged free-thinking people around the world not to remain silent.

Sallaq also emphasized the role of unity among Muslim countries and people worldwide in addressing these crises, adding: “If true solidarity is formed, such crimes will no longer be repeated.”

At the end of the webinar, she underlined the individual and collective responsibility in facing global issues and called on all freedom-loving individuals to take action—through media, social activities, and international platforms—to stand against injustice.

She expressed hope that through greater awareness and solidarity among nations, justice and humanity will ultimately prevail over violence and oppression.
