Libya to Host First National Quran Competition for Female University Students

Libya’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, through its Women’s Empowerment and Support Office, is set to host the first-ever national Quran competition exclusively for female students enrolled in universities and academies across the country.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Libya, through its Women’s Empowerment and Support Office, proudly announces the first-ever national Quran competition exclusively for female students at universities and academies across the country. Held under the theme “Women of Remembrance,” this event aims to:

  • Empower women through the memorization and understanding of the Quran.
  • Encourage Quranic memorization among female university students.
  • Strengthen Islamic values and their integration into the lives of young women.
  • Highlight the positive impact of Quranic competitions on universities and academies.

The competition will feature various categories, including memorization of the entire Quran, the last half, the last quarter, and the last three parts of the Quran.  

Somiya Abdulqader, the head of the Supreme Quranic Competitions Committee in Libya and director of the Women’s Empowerment and Support Office at the Ministry of Higher Education, stated at a press conference that participants will compete in these categories.

Tariq Abdulghani Mahmoud, the president of the Libyan Quranic Assembly and a member of the Supreme Competitions Committee, emphasized that this competition aims to merge science and religion, fostering a love for the Quran among students and making it a guiding principle in their lives.

He further added that this competition provides an opportunity to strengthen Islamic values and empower the role of Muslim women in society, particularly given the significant contributions of women to education and upbringing throughout history.
