The 2025 Asian Rowing Championships in Haiphong concluded with a proud showing from Iran’s women rowers, highlighted by Fatemeh Mojallal’s gold in the heavyweight single sculls and Zeinab Norouzi’s silver in the lightweight single sculls.


Triumphs on the Gia Dam River

Hosted from October 16 to 19 on the Gia Dam River in Haiphong, Vietnam, the championships drew top rowing talent from across Asia. Over those four days, Iranian athletes faced stiff competition and came away with a bold tally of medals.


Mojallal Takes Gold, Norouzi Earns Silver

In the women’s heavyweight single sculls, Fatemeh Mojallal powered to gold with a time of 8:31.11. As for Zeinab Norouzi, she finished the women’s lightweight single sculls in 8:24.75 and captured silver, behind a Hong Kong rower with gold and ahead of the bronze medalist from Kazakhstan.


Team Events Bolster Medal Count

Iran’s success was not limited to individual events. The women’s lightweight double sculls team—Zeinab Norouzi and Kimia Zarei—clinched a gold medal with a time of 7:30.22. In the women’s heavyweight double sculls, Mahsa Javar and Mojallal earned bronze.

By the close of the event, Iran’s rowers had secured five medals in total: 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes across both men’s and women’s events.
