Ikbal Gürpınar, a renowned Turkish TV host, challenges Western media narratives about Iran and Gaza, drawing on her recent trip to Iran and extensive humanitarian work.
Ikbal Gürpınar, a prominent Turkish television host, author, and social activist, recently shared her experiences from a trip to Iran and her perspectives on global issues. Known for her humanitarian efforts and unique insights into social and cultural matters, Gürpınar directly challenged Western media’s misrepresentation of Iran, particularly highlighting the significant role of women in Iranian society.
Iran: A Nation of Rich Culture and Strong Female Presence
“I spent two days exploring Tehran, visiting the book fair, Golestan Palace, and the Carpet Museum,” Gürpınar recounted about her trip to Iran. “The architectural beauty and history of Iran captivated me. Witnessing the strong presence of women in Iranian society completely changed the false perceptions Western media had instilled in me.”
She added, “Before my trip, my friends warned me that Iran was dangerous. But when I arrived, I saw women freely present in society, and the streets were full of life. Western media portrays an unrealistic image of Iran, presenting it as a closed, dark box, when the reality is completely different.”

Iran’s Book Fair: A Symbol of Love for Culture and Knowledge
Gürpınar also spoke of her visit to the Tehran International Book Fair: “The sheer scale and diversity of the Iran Book Fair amazed me. We don’t have anything like it in Turkey. The enthusiastic participation of the Iranian people at this exhibition demonstrates their deep appreciation for books and culture. Furthermore, the Persian language and rich Iranian literature hold a special appeal for my friends and me.”
Humanitarian Aid for Gaza: Selling a Factory to Support the Oppressed
Referring to her humanitarian activities, the Turkish host stated, “A few months ago, I sold my factory to help the people of Gaza. I’ve also dedicated the income from my rental properties and hosting activities to support the people of Gaza. My first aid efforts for Gaza began after October 7th, and I try to meet the needs of the oppressed people in that region in various ways.”
She continued, “The West, with its claims of freedom and human rights, is actually seeking to destroy human values and people’s beliefs. Islamic countries must unite on the issue of Gaza and support the Palestinian people through solidarity and joint action.”
The Palestinian Issue: The Need for Islamic Unity
Emphasizing the importance of unity among Islamic countries concerning Palestine, ikbal Gürpınar said, “Unfortunately, we are witnessing the inaction of Islamic countries on the issue of Gaza. The Prophet Muhammad said that believers are brothers, and God has entrusted Al-Aqsa Mosque to us. The peace of Al-Aqsa Mosque means the peace of Gaza, and this issue can only be resolved with Islamic unity and a joint army of Muslim countries.”

She also added, “The people of Gaza are honorable and resilient individuals who live by the Quran and with dignity. I have traveled to Jerusalem many times and have been involved in educating Palestinian children and meeting their needs.”
Centering God’s Will in Life
Ikbal Gürpınar concluded, “If you ask me what I have learned in this life, I would say nothing is truly mine. When I make God’s will the center of my life, He makes me beloved by everyone. God’s love leads to love between people, and the wealth of one who gives charity never diminishes. For example, I was supposed to pay for my trip to Iran, but God was gracious and I was invited here.”
