Tanzanian Muslims Explore Iran’s Revolution Achievements

An insightful cultural and academic session titled “Understanding the Achievements of the Islamic Revolution in the Field of Women” was held on February 11th at the Islamic Center of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event, organized by Iran’s cultural office, aimed to familiarize Tanzanian Shia with the progress made in women’s rights following the Islamic Revolution.

Iran’s Achievements Despite Sanctions

During the session, Iran’s cultural attaché, Ma’arefi, provided an overview of the Islamic Revolution’s history and the advancements made by Iran despite international sanctions.

He highlighted the significant role women played in the revolution’s success, underscoring their contributions in various areas, even in frontline roles traditionally occupied by men.

Highlighting Women’s Contributions

Ma’arefi also showcased a film demonstrating the post-revolution achievements in the field of women’s rights. He presented statistics illustrating the extensive involvement of women in social, economic, and cultural sectors since the revolution, along with examples of successful Iranian women.

Q&A Session with Students and Faculty

Students and faculty from the Islamic Center of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) engaged in a lively Q&A, addressing topics such as infertility treatments, vaccine development, and Imam Khomeini’s views on modern sciences.

Inspiration for Tanzanian Women

Munira Haitham Tajri, director of the center, emphasized the importance of this event in raising awareness among students. She noted that the Iranian experience, particularly in the realm of women’s rights, serves as a model for Tanzanian women and girls, showing them the broad scope of women’s participation in society.

Islam’s Support for Women’s Progress

Hussein Zubair, the cultural affairs manager of the center, expressed satisfaction with the event, stating that the session highlighted how Islam does not oppose the advancement of women in various fields. He also pointed out that Tanzanian families and parents play a vital role in supporting women’s development.

The Islamic Center of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH) is part of the Bilal Muslim Mission educational network affiliated with the Shia Khoja community in Tanzania.
