Safety Starts with Trust

To mark the blessed birth of the Prophet of Mercy

Safety Starts with Trust. In a world often plagued by uncertainty and mistrust, the concept of trustworthiness takes on paramount importance. This invaluable quality, exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the infallible Imams, serves as the cornerstone of a secure and harmonious society. A trustworthy individual, rooted in faith and moral integrity, embodies a sense of safety and reliability that extends far beyond mere appearances. Their presence inspires confidence, fosters peace, and creates a nurturing environment for all.

A Role Model for Humanity

One of the most important and prominent attributes of the Holy Prophet is trustworthiness, both in historical reputation and in the descriptions that have come to us from the Imams: “Peace be upon you, O trustee of God’s revelation.” Interestingly, this very attribute is the first one attributed to the infallible Imams, especially Amir al-Mu’minin, in the well-known Ziyarat Amin Allah. Safety Starts with Trust. Of course, this attribute, like many other spiritual and moral qualities of humans such as honesty, knowledge, and sincerity, has different levels and encompasses subtle aspects in its precise and broad meaning.

Safety Starts with Trust

Guardians of Trust

A trustworthy person is someone whose existence is secure; hence they can be a trustee. Because of this quality, one can trust them and remain safe under their security. A trustworthy being does not “betray“. They do not compromise others’ security with their appearance, words, or actions.

A trustworthy person does not constantly pry into your affairs or corner you with annoying questions. They are safe; they do not sting; they do not harm animals; they do not frighten; they do not belittle; they do not break others.

A trustworthy person does not endanger others’ security with their appearance; they do not deceive; they are not heart thieves; they are not obstacles on the path of human growth. A trustworthy person is a guardian of trust—you can marry your daughter to them or entrust them with your wealth. A trustworthy person considers women, children, and students as trusts. A trustworthy mother does not withhold her nurturing embrace from her child nor falls short in it.

Trustworthiness is truly a great attribute—much deeper and more precise than today’s superficial psychological teachings. The more faith settles within a person’s being, the safer, more trustworthy, and security-creating that person becomes.

The Prevalence of Insecurity Today

How wonderful are secure people! And what a beautiful heavenly attribute security is: “Enter it in peace and security.” And how hellish is a world created by insecure people! Is this level of insecurity and crime we see in today’s world anything but a product of contemporary human insecurity? This global family crisis, widespread sexual insecurity, and numerous illegitimate births that form the major roots of today’s crimes—do these have any reason other than betrayal of chastity or betrayal in safeguarding honor and responsibility?

A Call for Trustworthy Leaders

And how secure and trustworthy must you be for God Almighty to entrust you with the most valuable and weighty truths of this world so that you become “the trustee of God’s revelation”? How much must your existence be intertwined with security and trustworthiness to become “God’s trustee on His earth“? How much do people need secure fathers who create safety? How sweet and growth-promoting it is to experience paternal security! And how fortunate we are that Muhammad Amin (the Trustworthy) and Ali Amin Allah (the Trustworthy) are our protective shelters—the secure fathers of this nation who said: “Ali and I are the fathers of this nation.

“O God! Send us our trustworthy Imam because without him the world will never see true security.
