Women Sleep More Than Men

by faeze mohammadi

New research shows that while most people generally need seven to nine hours of sleep each night, sleep quality is far more important than its quantity.

Contrary to the common belief that women require more sleep than men, research based on scientific data reveals that, on average, women sleep for a similar amount of time as men. However, some women may experience the need for more sleep or face sleep disturbances due to hormonal changes and menopause.

The most significant point highlighted in these studies is that sleep quality is more important than the quantity for both genders. People who suffer from poor sleep quality often face issues like chronic fatigue, reduced performance, and increased stress, which can lead to more serious problems such as depression, heart disease, and even Alzheimer’s.

According to recent reports, women may face more sleep disturbances due to hormonal changes during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. Specifically, during menopause, when hormonal fluctuations are at their peak, many women experience sleep problems like insomnia or frequent awakenings during the night.

These sleep issues can significantly affect daily life and even lead to mental health problems like depression and anxiety.

Given these points, experts recommend that everyone, regardless of gender, should pay more attention to the quality of their sleep and seek appropriate counseling and treatment if sleep problems arise. Additionally, lifestyle changes such as reducing caffeine intake, regulating sleep times, and sleeping in a quiet, dark environment can help improve sleep quality.
