by خانم هاشمی

Shadi Habib, an Iranian artist, lecturer, and researcher, has won third prize in the 3D category of the 14th International Women’s Art Exhibition for her artwork, “The Birds’ battlefield.”

Prestigious Recognition

The “All Women Art Exhibition” is a highly regarded event in the world of visual arts. This year’s competition featured outstanding works in various categories, including painting, photography, and sculpture.

Award-Winning Artwork

Shadi Habib‘s “The Birds’ battlefield” secured third place in the 3D category. The award certificate, signed by Christopher D. Hoffman, the gallery’s director, recognizes the artwork as one of the competition’s winners.

About the Artwork

The Birds’ battlefield” is inspired by the rules of chess, but with a unique twist: it features a circular board, unlike traditional square chessboards.

Artist’s Explanation

Shadi Habib explains: “Unlike conventional chessboards with square divisions, the spaces in this artwork are designed along a circular axis. The board symbolizes the Earth, and the pieces are abstractly crafted in the form of birds. The structure rests on three abstract birds that support the weight of the board. Below the board, there are two circular drawers for storing the pieces.”

Materials and Techniques

The artwork is crafted from various types of wood, including walnut, medlar, quince, boxwood, and jujube. It employs a range of traditional handicraft techniques, such as woodworking, delicate work, volume creation, and marquetry.
