Gold, silver, and bronze medals have been added to Iran’s tally at the Asian Deaf Games, thanks to outstanding performances by the country’s athletes in athletics and judo.
Abdi Fard’s Gold Medal Triumph
Maryam Abdi Fard, a national runner for Iran, won the country’s twelfth gold medal at the Asian Deaf Games.
According to the Deaf Sports Federation‘s public relations, during the athletics competitions of the 10th Asian Deaf Games held in Malaysia on Friday, December 7th, Maryam Abdi Fard won the gold medal in the 400-meter race.
Abdi Fard competed against representatives from eight countries and crossed the finish line first, securing Iran’s twelfth gold medal.
Three Medals for Iranian Women Judokas
Also, in the judo competitions of the 10th Asian Deaf Games, Iranian female judokas competed against their opponents.
In the -70 kg weight category, Madineh Moghadas, after advancing through the preliminary rounds, lost in the semi-finals and won a bronze medal.
Sahar Sadat Hosseini also lost in the semi-finals of the -63 kg weight category and won a bronze medal.
In the +87 kg weight category, which was held in a round-robin format, Fahimeh Abdi defeated an opponent from Kazakhstan to win the silver medal.
Iran, Champion of the Asian Deaf Games
Iran’s Deaf Sports Team, competing under the motto “A Cry for Peace in Silence” at the 10th Asian Deaf Games, achieved a historic first-place finish.
With a total of 60 medals—24 gold, 16 silver, and 20 bronze—the Iranian team secured its first-ever Asian Deaf Games championship.
Throughout the games, Iran engaged in a close competition with South Korea and China but ultimately surpassed both countries to claim victory.
The final match of the 10th Asian Deaf Games, the football final between Iran and Japan, will take place on Sunday. An Iranian win would add a 25th gold medal to their impressive total.
