Tehran Book Fair Highlights Focus on Religious Education and Cultural Exchange
At a recent book launch held during the 36th Tehran International Book Fair, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Nigeria emphasized the crucial need to empower Nigeria’s Shia community through enhanced religious knowledge and discourse.
Strengthening Religious Understanding in Nigeria
Speaking at the unveiling of two newly translated English-language books, The Narrative Of Anxiety and Glimpses of the Nahj al-Balághah, Majid Kamrani, the Iranian Cultural Attaché, pointed out that many Nigerian Shia Muslims, who embraced the faith following the Islamic Revolution in Iran, require greater access to comprehensive religious education and relevant resources.

Fostering Cultural Bridges Through Collaboration
Kamrani underscored the significance of leveraging existing opportunities for cultural exchange. He noted the productive partnership with publishers associated with the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, which facilitated the successful translation and publication of these two important works within Nigeria.
Nigerian Readership Drawn to Literature of Resistance
From the booth of the Center for Organizing Translation and Publication of Islamic Teachings and Humanities, Kamrani observed a strong reception in Nigeria for literature focusing on resistance, war narratives, and broader Islamic world issues. He stated that this indicates a genuine interest and a growing readership for such thematic content.
Local Support Fuels Iranian Publishing Initiatives
Kamrani also highlighted the considerable local support within Nigeria for publishing Iranian literary works. He mentioned the active involvement of religious advisors and university professors in assisting with obtaining publication licenses and facilitating the local distribution of these books.
Leveraging the Expertise of Al-Mustafa University Graduates
Looking to the future, Kamrani noted the increasing number of Nigerian graduates and current students of Al-Mustafa International University. He suggested that these individuals could play a vital role in developing a strong base of Persian-speaking experts within Nigeria.
