Iran’s Hanieh Rostamian has advanced to the final of the Women’s 10 m Air Pistol at the 16th Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan — and she has already climbed the podium with a bronze in the mixed team event.
Bronze Medal in Mixed Team Event
Rostamian, competing alongside teammate Vahid Golkhandan, secured the bronze medal in the 10 m air pistol mixed team competition. The Iranian pair outperformed Vietnam with a decisive 16–8 victory in the bronze medal match, giving Iran one of its first podium finishes of the tournament.
This result highlights both athletes’ consistency and determination in a high-pressure environment, and it offers Iran early momentum as the championship continues.
Path to the Women’s Final
On the individual side, Rostamian also impressed in the Women’s 10 m Air Pistol preliminaries. Scoring 581 points, she finished third in qualification, securing her spot in the final. Her accurate shooting under pressure once again underlined why she is regarded as one of Iran’s top shooters on the international stage.
With a medal already in hand, Rostamian now has her sights set on adding another in her signature event.
Coaching and Team Effort
The Iranian pistol team is guided by head coach Maryam Soltani and assistant coach Mostafa Montazer Aliahya. Both have emphasized discipline, precision, and mental resilience in preparing the squad for Shymkent.
Their work has already paid dividends, and they remain optimistic about further medals as the competition progresses.
Looking Ahead
The 16th Asian Shooting Championships serve not only as a continental showcase but also as a key stepping stone toward the World Championships and Olympic qualification. For Rostamian, the bronze medal is both a reward and a motivation.
With her advancing to the women’s pistol final, Iran’s “Lady Pistol” has a chance to turn a strong start into one of her most successful international campaigns yet.
