The story of the Iranian Mahsa & the Iraqi Zainab©

by Narges Mohammadi

American policy experts have condemned the killing of Zainab Essam Majed, a 15-year-old Iraqi girl by American forces, and the sudden death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian girl.

Zainab Essam, was killed by a stray bullet from the American soldiers in the Abu Ghraib area of Baghdad.

The killing of Zainab aroused the anger of the Iraqi nation and in social media they all called for the exit of American forces from Iraq using the hashtag “America killed Zainab” and wrote that the Iraqi people will see peace only after the expulsion of foreign forces.

At the same time as this tragic event happened, the death of Iranian Kurdish citizen Mahsa occurred. The Islamic Republic of Iran hashtag was launched and the hashtag #mahsa_amini got trended by groups of Iranians living inside and outside Iran.

According to our discoveries, the internal enemies of the Islamic Republic and outside of Iran have used the death of this young woman as a pretext for sedition, alienating the Iranian Muslim community from Islam and inciting against Islamic standards. They who do not really care about Mahsa Amini’s death, want to exploit this incident for other purposes.

Biden and America’s double standards

In the same context, US President Joe Biden tried to show the same provocative gesture from the UN podium by saying that he is with the brave people of Iran, the brave women of Iran and the demonstrators.

He used the phrase “the most basic rights of Iranians” in his claim. Meanwhile, the rights of the people in the United States are confiscated, and the U.S. directly usurps the rights of the people of other countries in the world through domination or occupation.

America has openly declared that it steals Syria’s national wealth, and loots the country’s oil and gas.

However, Biden is inciting rioters in Iran, but at the same time, he is silent about the killing of an Iraqi girl (Zeinab Essam Majid) by the American occupying forces and its soldiers in the outskirts of Baghdad, and there is a difference compared to this tragic incident.

Biden and America’s double standards

The wave of Iraqi anger quickly spread from the street to social networks. American politicians and forces are accused of killing this girl. According to what the victim’s family has said, their daughter died after being hit by a bullet fired from a military shooting range near Al-Balan village in Abu Ghraib region.

Iraqis consider the presence of even one American soldier on Iraqi land to be an insult to their dignity. In order to start the investigation into the martyrdom of this teenager, the Baghdad operation command center announced in a statement that the competent authorities overseeing the process of this investigation will inform the public and the reasons and necessary legal measures against anyone who is proven to be involved in this tragic incident.

Meanwhile, Iraqi analysts, including Tahrir al-Shar’a, emphasized that the current government has not succeeded in ending the US intervention in Iraq’s internal affairs. So how is he going to fulfill his promise about Zainab’s martyrdom case?

American occupying forces must be expelled

Among the “tweets, articles or statements” of furious Iraqis, one voice said that “the time has come for the American bases to leave Iraq” and noted: “The people of Iraq are not safe. Security can only be achieved by expelling all foreign forces from Iraq. An innocent child (Zeinab Essam Majed) was martyred by the bullets of these arrogant people.

Sheikh Qais Khazali, Secretary General of Asaib Ahl al-Haq Movement, demanded an investigation into this tragic happening.

He asked the Iraqi security and intelligence forces to present a detailed report to the Iraqi people, accept the consequences of this cowardly incident and explain the existence of an American military base on Iraqi land, which is considered a clear violation of the Iraqi constitution.

American occupying forces must be expelled

It is worth mentioning that America and its allies occupied Iraq in 2003 and fought the longest war in the region, and the goal of America was to destroy Iraq and its infrastructure to serve the Zionist regime.

A popular uprising happened in southern Iraq in 1991, at the same time as the expulsion of the invading forces from Kuwait, required the United States and its allies to launch a military operation against it, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Some estimates indicate that 151,000 to 700,000 Iraqi civilians or more were killed in this invasion.
