Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology has announced the successful launch of the Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite, emphasizing that this historic achievement was realized by a team of skilled Iranian women engineers. The launch represents a major step forward for Iran’s growing presence in satellite communications and highlights the government’s continued investment in space technology.
A Historic Achievement by Iranian Women Engineers
A team of talented and elite Iranian women has successfully designed, developed, and launched the Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite. This significant milestone, marking a historic point in Iran’s space industry, was officially announced by Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Seyed Sattar Hashemi.
The Nahid-2 project builds on previous Iranian satellites and reflects years of research and development aimed at achieving independent space capabilities.
First-Ever Telephone Communication via Satellite
The Nahid-2 satellite, positioned in a 500-kilometer orbit, has completed all its tests successfully over approximately three months. Recently, it achieved a remarkable feat by establishing the first-ever telephone communication between two ground stations entirely through space.
This achievement demonstrates not only the reliability of the satellite’s communication systems but also Iran’s ability to integrate advanced aerospace technology with practical telecommunication needs.
Women’s Leadership in Space Projects
Minister Hashemi emphasized that the management and execution team for this historic project was entirely composed of women from the Communications Ministry and the Iranian Space Research Institute. This success demonstrates that Iranian women are actively leading in advanced technological fields and possess the capability to manage complex space projects.
Providing Services to Underserved Regions
This national achievement paves the way for delivering telecommunications services to underserved areas and villages lacking terrestrial communication infrastructure. Iranian women have played a pivotal role in realizing communication equity across the country.
Experts believe that the success of Nahid-2 will inspire more young Iranian women to pursue careers in engineering, science, and aerospace technology.
