Iran’s national para archery team member, Fatemeh Hemmati, has been nominated as one of five candidates for the prestigious Best Para Archer of the Year award for 2024.
With the announcement of the 2024 archery awards nominees and the commencement of public voting by the World Archery Federation, Fatemeh Hemmati‘s name shines among the Paralympic nominees.
Our country’s representative in the Best Female Para Archer category will compete against formidable athletes: Jodie Grinham of Britain, Tracy Otto of the USA, Oznur Cure girdi of Turkey, and Chen Minyi of China.
Hemmati secured a historic achievement by winning the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Para Archery Championships. This victory marked Iran’s first-ever Paralympic compound archery medal, solidifying her place among the world’s elite para archers.
This year’s global awards will be presented across six categories, recognizing excellence in:
- Development
- Coaching
- Judging
- Recurve Archer (Female and Male)
- Compound Archer (Female and Male)
- Para Archer (Female and Male)
Notably, this is not the first time an Iranian para archer has been recognized on the world stage. Zahra Nemati of Iran was previously nominated for this award in 2017 and emerged victorious, earning the title of Best Para Archer of that year.
