“Maria Akbar” a graduate of business administration from Emporia State University in USA; had a conversation with “5pillarsuk” about the Islamic clothing hijab. She said :“Those women who remove it, they show weakness in their faith, character and understanding of themselves”.
When you think of the word hijab; the first thing that enters our mind is the head cover worn by Muslim women. As we all know, the term hijab refers to much more than that, that has a physical and spiritual nature.
These days, many news outlets are reporting on a group of Muslim girls who remove their hijab on social media. It is always questionable that why do we give space to people who affect how we feel as Muslim Women?
This Muslim woman mentioned that Allah made hijab a part of religion and Sharia; so no matter what someone says or does, there is definitely wisdom and perfection in this ruling.
Many women portray removing the hijab as freedom, choice, liberation and power. It seems that the hijab restricts and suppresses a woman’s personality and beauty, but I am completely against this view.
Hijab is power
Maria Akbar continued: “As a Muslim woman who has worn hijab all her life; I can tell you what hijab really is and what its values are. In my opinion, removing the hijab is actually a weakness.”
Weakness in what?
She continued: “Weakness first and foremost in faith and character for people who have no real understanding of religion or culture; and finally weakness in understanding yourself in a way that you allow others to limit you to your physical appearance.”
Maria said: “Some women try to conform to unrealistic beauty standards; oblivious to the fact that removing the hijab is only the first piece in the domino of enslavement to unrealistic beauty standards.”
This graduate of Carleton University in Canada said: “I feel that there are deep reasons for women to remove the hijab. It cannot be denied that societies have changed over the generations.
In the past; women were always financially dependent on men, they were mainly housewives and had nurturing, non-competitive and passive characteristics, but with the passage of time, the roles changed, women are no longer dependent on men.
They are more independent than ever and strive for the same things that men work for and want to be considered equal to them. Women are self-confident, decisive and competitive in personality also have started behaving like men and have unfortunately become somewhat self-centered as a result.
Maria Akbar: “Due to the importance of social media; women are easily influenced by others; and due to the changes that have occurred in their personality traits; the role of their correction has been more difficult. Unfortunately, they don’t really know how to act like women anymore.”
Women today do not see the value of a woman who is a pearl; a precious stone, too beautiful to be displayed in the world. It is very surprising to me why women do not want to be seen; as a pearl and why they do not understand that they can achieve this deep feeling by wearing hijab.
I will never compromise on hijab !!!
As a working mother of two, living in a predominantly white community; the hijab is not something I would ever compromise on. My covering is first and foremost my identity as a Muslim. When someone sees me; they know that I am a Muslim and that I love my hijab, and that makes me proud.
She added: “My situation and that of many successful veiled women; is an example for all the women and girls around us. This issue shows that a woman with her hijab can achieve all kinds of success and live a great life.”
This Muslim woman also said: “My hijab has never limited any aspect of my life; and I have been very successful in all areas from education and job opportunities to traveling and networking.”
Maria Akbar: It’s not my appearance that gets me anywhere in life; but my inner state, my personality, my strength as a Muslim.
It is my knowledge of God, manners and principles of my life that have brought me success; and finally I say the sentence that “Hijab gives dignity and strength to a person“.
