Iran’s daughter brings home world silver as the national junior female poomsae team successfully won the silver medal at the World Championships in Hong Kong.
On the third day of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, Iran’s junior female team clinched the silver medal.
Dina Yaqubi, Zeinab Shahriari, and Fatemeh Salmani-zadeh were the members of this team who, in the final match, were defeated by South Korea and finished as runners-up.
This team had a bye in the first round and won against the Philippines in the round of 16 and Mexico in the quarterfinals.
The victory of the female poomsae athletes against Vietnam in the semifinals took them to the final, although the match against South Korea in the final was a challenging one.
This medal is the first medal for Iranian girls in the 2024 Hong Kong World Poomsae Championships.
Also, Mahdieh Oghbaei, Neda Moradi, and Forough Rahimi in the under-50 category were eliminated from the competition after losing to South Korea in the quarterfinals.
In the over-17-year-old freestyle poomsae section, Hananeh Ahmadi, representing the Iranian women’s team, could not qualify for the final by finishing eighth in the preliminary round.
