During the Arbaeen pilgrimage, approximately 1,500 dedicated women—staff and honorary volunteers from inside and outside Iraq—joined forces to implement a comprehensive security, service, and educational initiative under the leadership of Ramla al-Khuzai, head of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Imam Ali (AS) Holy Shrine.
Mobilizing Service Teams and Ensuring Security
Head of the Women’s Affairs Department, Ramla al-Khuzai, announced that all personnel were mobilized with support from honorary volunteers—totaling over 1,500 women. They executed a comprehensive plan encompassing security measures, service delivery, and intellectual outreach to effectively assist female pilgrims during Arbaeen.
The security component focused on ensuring smooth traffic flow, safeguarding female visitors, and facilitating their seamless access to the shrine through organized entry and exit coordination.

Service Provision Led by a Large Volunteer Force
The service-oriented segment of the initiative included multiple service points managed by over 800 female staff members, alongside 700 honorary volunteers from Iraq and beyond—including Iran, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon. These volunteers worked alongside shrine staff to provide a variety of services to the honored pilgrims.
Intellectual and Religious Outreach
In addition to security and logistical support, intellectual offerings were also a key part of the program. At the guesthouse in the sacred precinct on the Karbala route near Marker 96, women’s teams provided various supportive services to female pilgrims. They partnered with supporting departments such as the Dar al-Quran Karim, which ran Qur’anic programs and special women-oriented service stations, and the Religious Affairs and Propagation Department, which hosted educational and religious awareness booths specifically for women.
