The Standard of Beauty Become Luxurious

by faeze mohammadi

In today’s world, beauty standards have increasingly become luxurious and unattainable.

Women, especially young women, face immense pressure to achieve an appearance that aligns with these standards, which are constantly reinforced by the media, advertisements, and social media. While the number of men seeking cosmetic surgeries has also risen, the beauty pressures remain more heavily weighted on women.

Today, many women, especially those in their youth, turn to both invasive and non-invasive beauty interventions in order to achieve a “perfect” look. From facial and body surgeries to injections and expensive treatments, the financial and emotional costs of this process are substantial.

However, most of the women and girls who were interviewed acknowledge that the beauty standard is far out of their reach. Many cannot afford the high costs of these interventions and are ultimately left to face feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction with their appearance.

Cosmetic surgeries may offer short-term results, but the process comes with many costs, which are not limited to financial aspects. In addition to financial expenses, these procedures can have negative repercussions on individuals’ mental and physical health.

The fear of failure in surgery, the side effects from procedures, and anxiety related to changes in appearance can lead to severe emotional stress. Some individuals even feel greater dissatisfaction and lack of confidence after undergoing cosmetic procedures.

Ultimately, the question arises: should beauty be a measure of a person’s worth? Is achieving these luxurious beauty standards, despite all their downsides, truly worth it? While beauty and attractiveness have always been concerns for different societies, it now seems that this pursuit comes with a high price and substantial costs for many individuals.
