An Iranian student, Hosna Salimi, has been named “Researcher of the Year” in a global competition with over 400 participants, raising the flag of Iran at the prestigious “Young Leaders of BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization” event.
Hosna Salimi, a young scholar at the University of Tehran’s Faculty of World Studies, has garnered international recognition by winning the “Researcher of the Year 2025” award at the “Young Leaders of BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization” event.

In a highly competitive field, she triumphed as the top researcher among participants from multiple countries, further cementing her reputation as a multilingual researcher. Salimi, who speaks 10 languages, is recognized globally for her contributions to research in intercultural studies.

Currently pursuing her PhD in Indian Studies at the University of Tehran, Salimi has been actively publishing papers in scientific journals and presenting at international conferences. Her work, especially in the fields of Japanese and intercultural studies, has made a significant impact on the development of global cultural research.


In a recent interview, she revealed her academic journey. After completing her undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Rome, she returned to Iran, where she chose to continue her studies in Japanese Studies at the University of Tehran. Despite being accepted into graduate programs abroad, including one in the United States, Salimi opted to study in Iran, motivated by her deep passion for language and culture. Her decision was met with surprise and even criticism from some of her peers, but her family fully supported her choice.
Salimi’s multilingualism played a crucial role in her award-winning research. She is fluent in French, English, and Italian, and has studied Japanese, Chinese, Russian, German, Spanish, and Turkish. Her ability to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps has made her a standout figure in her field.
In addition to her academic achievements, Salimi was honored with the Researcher of the Year award for her paper on contemporary literature, which was selected for its innovative approach and multilingual research methods. This recognition highlights her dedication to advancing cultural understanding and her remarkable linguistic proficiency.
