A new pill called “Combined Relugolix Treatment” has been approved for treating the symptoms of endometriosis by the NHS in England and Wales.
This condition affects around 1.5 million women in the UK and causes symptoms like severe menstrual pain, fatigue, and fertility issues.
Relugolix, an oral medication, helps women suffering from endometriosis manage their symptoms. However, this treatment is currently available to only around 1,000 women per year. One of the key benefits of this medication is that patients can easily stop and restart taking it, which is important for women who are trying to conceive.
While this pill is seen as an advancement in treating endometriosis, its impact will be limited to a small number of patients, and there remains a need for further investment in research and other treatment options. Specialists continue to explore and expand available treatments for this condition.
