A women’s affairs expert emphasized that discussions on LGBT support are deeply tied to civilization. A civilization founded on immorality has money as one of its primary drivers and catalysts.
Recently, the Paris Olympics opening ceremony was held with a performance that many considered to be filled with symbols of homosexuality, Satanism, and immorality.
The depiction of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ by a group of LGBTQ+ community members and half-naked dancers, with overt homosexual imagery, has sparked a wave of anger and protests.Terms like ‘Satanism,’ ‘disgusting,’ ‘hateful,’ and ‘blasphemous’ were used by many Twitter users to describe this opening ceremony.
A Civilizational War
A cursory glance at recent films and series reveals a striking increase in the portrayal of sexual minorities in cinema. Hedonism is inherently embedded in Western civilization, but this cultural laxity is becoming increasingly apparent.
Recent events have shown that many of the suspicions about the atheistic nature of Western civilization are not merely conspiracy theories. As the edges of this civilizational war become sharper, the boundaries of discursive conflict also become clearer.
The Profit Motive Behind LGBTQ+ Support in Western Media
Many people may have wondered why Western governments and media, especially in the United States, support issues like the LGBTQ+ community. Fariba Alasvand, in an interview with Tasnim News Agency, explained the reason for the widespread media support for the issue of “the rainbow of constructed genders” by referring to the profitability of the new wave of sex change, saying: “Discussions related to the realm of chastity are highly civilizational. A civilization based on immorality has money as one of its drivers and catalysts. In 2000, I read in the official Beijing document that the pornography industry in Los Angeles alone generated four billion dollars that year.”
The West’s Moral Boundaries and Control
Abolfadl Eghbali, also explaining the media’s support for the LGBTQ+ community, points to the controlling role of this issue, saying: ‘Western civilization, historically, has no choice but to cross moral boundaries. This civilization leaves no conditions for societies; whether it is about the institution of the family or a personality like Jesus Christ. Today, the West has even emptied human gender of meaning. The more permissiveness there is in societies, the easier it is to control people, and this is the reason for the increase of this culture in the West; as we saw in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Of course, it should be noted that these behaviors do not represent the entire Western society and there is still a commitment to family in many parts of it.’
The Global Push for Secular, Anti-Human Dignity Policies
However, a more critical issue is the global imposition of secular, anti-human dignity policies, which are not even universally accepted within Western countries themselves. Through extensive media propaganda and pressure from human rights organizations, these policies are being forced upon the entire world. Even Islamic countries are facing international pressure to accept and tolerate the LGBTQ community. The United Nations, using various levers of power, is pursuing the decriminalization of homosexuality and the legalization of same-sex marriage in different countries, including Islamic nations.
Sexual Minorities’ Rights: A Cornerstone of the 2030 Education Agenda!
In this regard, Fariba Alasvand, referring to the 2030 Agenda’s support for homosexuals, noted: ‘The right to quality education for all is one of the clauses of the 2030 Agenda. One of the documents published by UNESCO on this agenda emphasizes that if a homosexual in a country cannot say “I am a homosexual” in school, that country has not provided quality education for all. In other words, guaranteeing the rights of sexual minorities is considered a necessary condition for quality education in the 2030 Agenda.’
She also added about the pressures from the international community to tolerate the LGBTQ community in Islamic countries: ‘Last year, I participated in an international conference in Lebanon where representatives from various Islamic countries like Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, and Lebanon were present and had presented papers. Without exception, all the papers were related to the LGBTQ issue. One of the professors who was with me asked me in surprise why all their discussions were focused on this topic?
Two weeks later, I went to a conference in Qatar where my paper had also been accepted. It was an important conference on the topic of family and the modern world. About three hundred family advocates from all over the world, including prominent professors from renowned universities like Washington, Boston, Canadian and European universities, as well as universities in Islamic and African countries, had participated. Again, I saw that one of the most important issues they referred to was the LGBTQ issue. This shows the severe international pressure to accept this issue in Islamic countries, which is a very dangerous issue.’
The Peril of Promoting Sexual Deviance in Iranian Culture
Despite the fact that such topics are not accepted within the Iranian-Islamic cultural sphere and are completely in conflict with our religious and cultural certainties, we are witnessing attempts to normalize and legitimize these sexual deviations under the influence of media propaganda.
Some academic figures in Iran have also created a narrative to accept these deviations. For instance, as a first step, they have tried to avoid considering this orientation as a ‘disorder’ and to accept a third gender in addition to male and female.
The Silent Epidemic: The Growing Influence of Western Sexual Ideologies
These events occur at the societal level and under the silence of domestic media and institutions. While our adolescents and youth are bombarded with advertisements to normalize and promote various forms of sexual deviation, domestic institutions and media still believe that concealing sexual issues and deviations and sweeping them under the rug is better than addressing these issues correctly, raising awareness, and providing information to society.
While correctly addressing these issues and increasing the awareness of adolescents and families to counter such deviations, which spread due to ignorance and lack of information, is an undeniable necessity.
